Long, cold, narrow body of water separating the Scandinavian Peninsula from the northern coast of Europe, and linking Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland with the North Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. The Baltic Sea is about 950 miles long and 400 miles wide at its widest point. Water temperatures range from the low 30s in January to the upper 50s in July. ...
